Martha Stewart Visits Ormond Beach For Block Party 9/14/07
September 14th, 2007 Categories: Ormond Beach Real Estate, Port Orange FL Neighborhoods, TGIF
We were winners of the Martha Stewart Deer Creek Block Party!
Left to Right: Heidi Hall, Donna Fischer and Janis Gagliardi!

Martha Stewart came to Ormond Beach today to celebrate the opening of Deer Creek at Hunter’s Ridge! Deer Creek by the way, is the only Martha Stewart KB Home community in Florida!! There were 150 guests that won the entry to meet Martha and attend the block party.

We signed in under the KB tent and received a VIP ID card along with a raffle ticket to win prizes such as cookware, books, bacis kitchen supplies and MS scrapbooking kit. Participants were chosen by raffle to participate in a sand castle contest too!!

For security purposes, all winners met at KBHome on International Speedway Blvd.in Daytona Beach. From there we were taken via Disney Line buses to the event. Big Kudos to Heather, Martha Stewart’s Event Planner!

Debra Rodriguez, our KB representative, clued us in on the schedule before arriving. The intinerary included crafts, sand castle contest, drawings, lunch, desserts, and an opportunity to meet Martha Stewart!

Martha showed up after lunch and spoke briefly to kick off the KBHome Deer Creek community. She looked marvelous and graciously received a proclamation and a key to the city. She was whisked away in a black Escalade shortly thereafter!

How cool is that!! Congratulations and it looks like you had a good time. That last picture is making me hungry (what are those? Churros?)
Those are Martha Stewart cookies.I believe they are giant chocolate sugar cookies and vanilla malted cookies!
Those pictures really capture the high points–great food, good friends, and of course the ultimate hostess, Martha Stewart. Too bad she wasn’t able to spend more time at the party but I’m sure she has a schedule packed full of these things. Don’t worry Martha–we carried on and did you proud!
Janis,
That is a WONDERFUL picture of Martha Standing with George Glance, President of KB Home Orlando Division (right) and Jeff Metzger, KB Home CEO.
My wife attended this event…and “brief” is the operative word. Martha Stewart spent less than 5 minutes with guests who had spent hours in security preparations. With barely a hello/goodbye and equipment malfunctions, I think everyone attending was feeling quite insulted!
I have to agree wholeheartedly with hseldon’s comments. My daughter-in-law, a medical Doctor, arranged her schedule to “meet” and have a picture taken with Martha, as the rep who called to say I had won, told me would happen. Why some gals close to me didn’t even have a seat, the mike didn’t work, no one seated in the northern end of the tent even saw Martha as others stood and blocked the view. Martha, whose newest ad for her upcoming newsletter intro states; “she wants an opportunity to communicate with all of you in a more informal, conversational way” sure left a bad taste in my mouth when she ducked out in a rush. How much time would it have taken her to walk around the tables and wave to all and receive the fresh flowers one gal brought for her. Perhaps if she had a platform to stand on, those in the back of the tent could at least have caught a glimpse of her. I feel sorry for the KB Home reps who said they worked for weeks on the event and then never got to see her, let alone meet her. KB Homes put on a great show and worked hard in preparation for the event Too bad….it appeared to be an inconvenience for Martha to attend!
