The 48th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona kickoffs Speedweeks 2010 and the season opens with the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, set for Jan. 30-31.

The 2010 Rolex 24, America’s most prestigious sports car race. The Rolex 24 is America’s most prestigious sports car event and one of only two 24-hour sports car events in the world. The twice-around-the-clock challenge attracts a star-studded driver lineup from all racing disciplines around the world.

Drivers who competed in the 2009 edition of the Rolex 24 included NASCAR stars Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch and Juan Pablo Montoya, IndyCar stars Dario Franchitti, Ryan Briscoe, Scott Dixon, Buddy Rice and Danica Patrick and sports car veterans Wayne Taylor, Max Angelelli, Hurley Haywood, Scott Pruett and Alex Gurney.

SEASIDE BALLOON FEST HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED TO MAY 21-23, 2010.

We have jumped into the fast-track planning stages for an event that will be even bigger and better than what was planned for last week. We are, of course, planning to make hot-air balloons the centerpiece of the action again, but are now looking at adding several other attractions and activities too.

Vince Carter’s New Restaurant just opened January 18th 2010!

While Daytona Beach native and NBA athlete Vince Carter was doing his best to get the New Jersey Nets into the playoffs, his mother, Michelle Carter-Scott, has been busy in the building an expansive new restaurant, which is now open!

Crab Kickers, Crab Spinach Artichoke Dip, Panko Encrusted Shrimp, Ahi Tuna for apps. Main courses consisted of Pan Seared Scallops with Ravioli and Gorgonzola sauce, Filet Edgar, Salmon, Porterhouse, Shrimp and Grits and much more! The servers were very attentive and knowledgable which is very nice considering this is a brand new establishment. The restaurant includes a piano bar, VIP room, sports bar with 103″ and 65″ TV”S , outside dining with views of lighted fountain at night, and a great modern decor dining area!

The restaurant is located at 2150 LPGA Blvd., just east of Clyde Morris Blvd. in Daytona Beach, and it is called, simply, Vince Carter’s.

We had the opportunity to meet some really great residents of Venetian Bay. A family in particular that stands out in my mind was Chuck, Mary Jo, with their daughter, Xia Sha, a cute little 4 year old who loved to have her picture taken!

The Master of Ceremony was Mr. Dick Cuchetti-Conti. There was no shortage of musical entertainment! The stage featured performances by Jerry Sanders & Seminole Ridge Bluegrass from 12:00 till 1:30; Dixie Rex Band Country from 1:45 till 3:30 and MaxQ Classic Rock from 4:00 till 5:30 . The event ended with the Christmas Finale from 6:00 till 7:00. Admission was free and food and drinks were available to purchase.

We had a great time at the festival and look forward to upcoming events we are sure Jerry Johnson has planned in the near future for Venetian Bay New Smyrna Beach residents!

Got the TV on and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which makes me wish I was in NYC for the holidays!

I promised myself I would spend this day with my family and take the day off from blogging and real estate.

For many of us, this is the one time of the year when we take time to notice the blessings in our lives.

So here I am to make this one post today and reflect on what I am thankful for and in no particular order:

• I am thankful for my health
• I am thankful for a very loving and considerate husband and family, extended family and friends
• I am thankful that I live in freedom in the USA
• I am thankful for the men and women who protect our country
• I am thankful for the medicine that keeps my mother’s condition in check and for the Flordiez family who take care of her

Yesterday, her Poppy and I, attended a Thanksgiving school luncheon and celebration at St. Paul’s Episcopal School!

Lauren and her classmates dressed up like Indians and Pilgrims to celebrate Thanksgiving. The food was delicious and the kids were great!

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church – 129 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach (Beachside on the River). Not only will you savor the food of Greece but you will be caught up in the traditions, culture, art, and faith of the Greeks.
