The 48th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona kickoffs Speedweeks 2010 and the season opens with the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, set for Jan. 30-31.
The 2010 Rolex 24, America’s most prestigious sports car race. The Rolex 24 is America’s most prestigious sports car event and one of only two 24-hour sports car events in the world. The twice-around-the-clock challenge attracts a star-studded driver lineup from all racing disciplines around the world.
Drivers who competed in the 2009 edition of the Rolex 24 included NASCAR stars Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch and Juan Pablo Montoya, IndyCar stars Dario Franchitti, Ryan Briscoe, Scott Dixon, Buddy Rice and Danica Patrick and sports car veterans Wayne Taylor, Max Angelelli, Hurley Haywood, Scott Pruett and Alex Gurney.

Vince Carter’s New Restaurant just opened January 18th 2010!
While Daytona Beach native and NBA athlete Vince Carter was doing his best to get the New Jersey Nets into the playoffs, his mother, Michelle Carter-Scott, has been busy in the building an expansive new restaurant, which is now open!
Crab Kickers, Crab Spinach Artichoke Dip, Panko Encrusted Shrimp, Ahi Tuna for apps. Main courses consisted of Pan Seared Scallops with Ravioli and Gorgonzola sauce, Filet Edgar, Salmon, Porterhouse, Shrimp and Grits and much more! The servers were very attentive and knowledgable which is very nice considering this is a brand new establishment. The restaurant includes a piano bar, VIP room, sports bar with 103″ and 65″ TV”S , outside dining with views of lighted fountain at night, and a great modern decor dining area!
The restaurant is located at 2150 LPGA Blvd., just east of Clyde Morris Blvd. in Daytona Beach, and it is called, simply, Vince Carter’s.

The Port Orange Bridge – Share Your Stories With Port Orange Juice

The Dunlawton Bridge or Port Orange Bridge is actually known as the William V. Chappell Jr. Memorial Bridge.
There were 2 bridges before the more modern bridge we see today.
According to a book called “Port Orange” written by Harold Cardwell and Priscilla Cardwell, the first bridge was built in 1906 was made of sable palm pilings and pine timbers. After that a second wooden toll bridge was built in 1951.
